Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 19, 2026

ScanStudy ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information We Collect

Images you scan: When you use the camera or photo library to scan notes, the image is processed on your device using Apple's Vision framework for text recognition (OCR). The extracted text is sent to our server to generate flashcards. We do not store your images on our servers.

Text you enter: When you type or paste notes for AI generation, the text is sent to our server to create flashcards. We do not store this text after processing.

Purchase information: Subscriptions and in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.

Usage data: We track the number of AI generations used per month locally on your device using standard app storage. This data never leaves your device.

How We Use Your Information

Third-Party Services

We use the Anthropic API (Claude) to generate flashcards from your notes. Text you submit for generation is sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Please refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.

We use Vercel to host our API endpoint. Vercel may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps). See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

Data Storage

Flashcards you create are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to your flashcard data. If you delete the app, your data is permanently removed.

Camera & Photo Library

ScanStudy requests access to your camera and photo library solely to capture or select images of your notes for text extraction. Photos are processed on-device and are not uploaded or stored by us.

Children's Privacy

ScanStudy does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Your Rights

Since we do not store personal data on our servers, there is generally no personal data for us to delete or provide. Your flashcard data is stored locally and can be removed by deleting the app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
